Format: Video/audio

Multiple Choice Questions: 6

CE Credits: 1.0

Instructional Level: Intermediate

Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this course, clinicians should be able to (1) Understand that hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a type of hyperbaric therapy (HB). (2) Learn that HBOT and HB involve increased barometric pressure and elevated pressure of breathing gases. (3) Recognize the bioactivity of barometric pressure and increased pressure of breathing gases on gene expression and suppression, independent, overlapping, and interactive with the effects of oxygen. (4)   Evaluate the evidence suggesting HB/HBOT as an effective treatment for mild traumatic brain injury, persistent post-concussion syndrome, PTSD, and secondary depression and anxiety.

Target Audience: Physicians, Neurologists, Psychiatrists, Medical Researchers, Healthcare Providers specializing in traumatic brain injury and PTSD, Behavioral Health Professionals.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Chronic Traumatic Brain Injury, PTSD, and Depression

This continuing medical education (CME) course delves into the therapeutic potential of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) for chronic traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and depression. Led by Dr. Paul G. Harch, a renowned expert in hyperbaric medicine, participants will explore the historical evolution, mechanisms, and clinical applications of HBOT.

The course will cover the foundational principles of hyperbaric therapy, including the role of increased barometric pressure and elevated oxygen levels in modulating gene expression and suppression.

Through a comprehensive review of evidence-based research, attendees will gain insights into the efficacy of HBOT in treating mild traumatic brain injury, persistent post-concussion syndrome, PTSD, and secondary depression and anxiety.

Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of HBOT's bioactivity and its potential to improve patient outcomes in various neurological and psychological conditions.

Join us for an enlightening and informative session that promises to expand your expertise in hyperbaric medicine and its applications in treating complex medical conditions.
