Meet Your Instructor:
Dr. Michael L. Kriegel


Michael L. Kriegel, Ph.D., is one of the pioneers in the development of the field of Interdisciplinary Pain Management. He has been a leader in the field since the early 1980’s and is working to bring it back as the gold standard of care for patients who suffer from chronic pain. He developed the largest network of Interdisciplinary Pain Management Centers in the nation and subsequently built and managed 22 facilities. He recently completed building his 23rd facility. Dr. Kriegel has co-authored a book on Interdisciplinary Rehabilitation of Low Back Pain, written 3 book chapters and has written over 15 articles in various medical journals. Dr. Kriegel has recently led a group of national experts in the field of Pain Management in the revision of the pain standards for The Commission for Accreditation of Accreditation Facilities. He is currently leading a similar group of experts in the development of a large research project to validate the clinical effectiveness and cost effectiveness of Interdisciplinary Pain Management.
